About This Spot

Stepping into Dirty Apron, nestled right within Richmond’s busy airport terminal, feels like finding a calm little haven amid the rush of travelers and layovers. The pace here is unhurried, a thoughtful contrast to the usual airport frenzy, inviting you to pause and savor a moment that genuinely belongs to you. Light spills in through windows while soft murmurs blend with the comforting smells rising from the kitchen—a quietly upbeat space where time slows just enough to enjoy something real.

The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, with a touch of rustic charm that speaks to the skilled hands and care behind every dish. Whether you’re easing into a day of travel or arriving home in need of grounding, Dirty Apron offers more than a quick bite. The sandwiches feel substantial without the fuss, crafted with fresh, thoughtfully layered ingredients that reveal themselves bite after bite. Meanwhile, pastries and baked goods bring a gentle sweetness that pairs perfectly with a carefully brewed coffee or a soothing chai latte.

This is the kind of place where it’s easy to imagine yourself catching up with a friend over a morning coffee or stealing a quiet moment alone with a favorite book. Despite being an airport eatery, there’s a sense of neighborhood familiarity—friendly faces, real conversations, and sincere attention that make your visit feel personal. The seating feels considered, offering a small oasis where you can sit back, relax, and watch the world move at its own pace.

Dirty Apron doesn’t rush the experience. Instead, it invites you to discover simple pleasures—like the crisp toast of a well-made sandwich or the unexpected delight of a vegan chocolate brownie cookie, each one revealing the care that went into its creation. It’s a reminder that even in places designed for transit, moments of comfort, care, and good food can be found when you least expect them.

I was stuck here for 8 hours and had airline coupons to use. I checked out the options before stopping here. I will say I was pleasantly surprised with the sandwiches I picked. The baguette was fresh and soft on the inside, and the layers of flavor were just right. I would have liked a larger selection, but it is definitely the better choice.

It’s an airport - it’s going to be expensive. But for what you get, it’s probably the best deal in the concourse. Baked goods are enormous and sandwiches are much larger with more fillings than the local competition. Greatly appreciated that there was seating available and that food and drinks were packaged in a way that made it possible to quickly close them up to bring along on the plane.

was there as part of a SoldierOn activity, we were taught how to make savory scones, cinnamon French toast and poached eggs with double smoked bacon on potato frosting.

We had a turkey sandwich , morning glory muffin and hot chocolate. They were all fresh and great! Yes its expensive but so is everything at the airport. I thought the muffins were really good value. The lady was also lovely.
